ShoreTel Gives Back to the Community During the Holidays
With the holiday season in full gear, ShoreTel has gotten into the spirit. This past December 1, known as #GivingTuesday, ShoreTel’s HR and Finance teams gave back to our local community at the Sunnyvale Community Services facility. This is the second year the HR and team volunteered at this charity.
The ShoreTel HR and Finance teams spent three hours helping local families select food essentials for their kitchens, and helped with holiday shopping from community donations that were given to the Sunnyvale Community Services facility. Each member of our ShoreTel team was assigned a task to either help stock shelves with the donated items, accordingly to gender and age group, or help a family along their shopping journey through the facility.
Many families were overwhelmed by the amount of food and gifts that they were able to select and bring home to their families this holiday. Some families sought advice from the ShoreTel host volunteers about which toys and gifts would be most appropriate for their children. It was a delight to see the excitement on their faces and to visualize the impact these gifts would have on those who would receive them.
Our team was very touched and humbled to see the excitement from participating families. A ShoreTel volunteer recalled that one of the hosted families struggled to decide between a blender and a blanket, as her family needed both. It reminded her just how lucky she is to have such essential items. It also reminded us all that we are fortunate to be in a position to give back and make an impact on other people’s holiday season.
Additionally, ShoreTel is sponsoring collection drives across the U.S. during the holiday season at a few of our domestic sites. Our Rochester and Manhattan offices are hosting a coat drive for the cold winter in the Northeast. Our Austin location is giving back to a local charity called Faith Place that supports the families that are victims of domestic violence. Our Sunnyvale office is collecting Toys for Tots and coats for the local homeless shelter.
Our ShoreTel culture is focused on wellness, which not only includes the physical health of our employees, but the health of our community. The holidays are an excellent time to be grateful for the people and things in our lives, and to give back to those less fortunate. Tis the season to take a step back from our busy work-lives to take the opportunity to give back to our local communities. It feeds the mind and spirit, individually and collectively. Happy Holidays!
