The flexible call handling and personalization capabilities of the ShoreTel UC system have enabled teachers to communicate more efficiently with peers, students, administrators and the community without the fear of being distracted by unwanted calls during precious class time. Palisades Charter High School has also implemented ShoreTel's E911 Notification Application, which immediately notifies appropriate school personnel of a 911 emergency, enhancing the school's ability to quickly and efficiently coordinate a response. With the ShoreTel UC system, school staff can now easily implement adds, moves, and changes, which significantly reduce ongoing maintenance costs.

E911 Notification Application
As part of the Palisades Charter High School deployment, Perri opted for ShoreTel's E911 Notification Application. Providing calling party information to the 911 service during an emergency is a standard feature of every ShoreTel system, but the E911 Notification Application takes 911 calling a step further. Whenever a ShoreTel phone is used to dial 911, the system automatically notifies the school's Executive Director, Director of Communications, School Police Officer, and Dean of Discipline of the call. Each person has an important and different role to play, and by receiving simultaneous notification, they can immediately create an appropriate and unified response to the emergency. Built-in messaging allows them to send text messages to each other from their desktops, further improving their ability to coordinate a timely response.
Call Scheduling Application
ShoreTel helps customers embed voice communications into their core business processes as part of a unified communications solution. At the school's request, ShoreTel Professional Services developed a custom call scheduling application that tracks each teacher's schedule and does not ring classroom phones during class hours. The application gives the teachers the best of both worlds, an in-class phone for communicating with peers, parents and administrators - and for emergency calls - but with no danger of being disturbed by calls during class time.
ShoreTel's ShoreWare Director has made it easy for Perri to configure the system for the specific needs of Palisades Charter High School teachers and administrators. For example, flexible hunt groups let the school decide which administration phones ring simultaneously or in a specific order to ensure all calls are answered with the least distraction. With pick-up groups, some administrators have the ability to pick up a call if everyone else is busy - even though their phone is not ringing.
